Fishing/Hunting License Military Discount
In my research I found, 34 states offer discounted hunting or fishing licenses fees to active duty military and/or veteran residents(found here). My experience was here in Colorado where I paid $9 for a $12 one day license at Walmart and would have received a few dollars off on a $33 year long license.
Some states also offer free licenses to 50% or higher disabled vets. As I always recommend, ask either before or when you are at the point-of-sale. I hope many people with these hobbies already know of this offering, but if they do not I am glad to be a part of growing the awareness and helping military personnel past and present save a little more money.
I have never experienced the thrill of a hunt but I have clocked many peaceful hours hoping to get a tug on my line and reel in the biggest catch of the day. Most of that had come from conventional fishing when I was much younger on my granddad's pontoon boat. In the military I have gone fishing 3 times: In tech school at a military appreciation event where I used minnows for the first time, then the time I wanted to learn how to fly fish and instead of actually fly fishing I stood in an open grass area to practice fly fishing techniques, and finally the time I went ice fishing(my first time) and spent the day overcoming a fear of hearing ice crack as I stood on it. It was a good relaxing experience and I hope you enjoy the video above this paragraph showcasing my trip.
